SendGrid email templates your whole team can edit

Keep SendGrid for delivery. Your team writes, tests and publishes your app's email templates in CommuniQueue, and CommuniQueue sends each finished email through your SendGrid account.

What SendGrid does well

  • Scale: SendGrid says it delivers more than 200 billion emails a month.
  • Dedicated IPs come with its Pro and Premier plans.
  • Teammate permissions that reach down to individual template actions.

SendGrid's own templates

SendGrid's Dynamic Templates use Handlebars, with a drag-and-drop Design Editor, a Code Editor and test data for previews. A template can have several versions, with one active at a time, and an account or subuser holds up to 300 templates. (From SendGrid's documentation, November 2026.)

What CommuniQueue adds on top

Your whole team can edit

Anyone on the workspace except read-only members writes and publishes templates, in a visual editor or in HTML. No API calls and no deploys.

Drafts, test sends and publishing

Each template has a draft that saves as you type. Preview it with sample details, send a test to your own inbox, and publish when it is right.

Versions with notes

Every publish is kept with a note on what changed. To go back, restore an older version as a draft and publish it.

Templates that are not tied to SendGrid

CommuniQueue fills in each template and hands SendGrid the finished email, so your templates stay put if you ever change providers.

One request from your app

Your code sends a template id and the customer's details. It never carries HTML, so changing an email never touches your code.

Thinking about leaving SendGrid?

Templates are often the slowest part of switching email providers. If yours live in SendGrid, each one has to be rebuilt somewhere else.

Move them into CommuniQueue first, while SendGrid keeps sending. When you are ready, connect Amazon SES, Postmark or Mailgun and make it your default. Your templates and your app's requests stay the same.

Before you switch, verify your sending domain with the new provider and check which delivery events it reports.

Connect SendGrid

  1. In SendGrid, create an API key with only the Mail Send and Event Webhook permissions.
  2. In CommuniQueue, open your workspace's Settings, go to the Email sending tab and choose Connect provider. Workspace owners and admins see this.
  3. Pick SendGrid, enter the From address and paste the API key. Leave Provider API selected for full delivery tracking.
  4. Save. CommuniQueue registers its event webhook in SendGrid for you, then lets you send a test email.

Good to know

  • If your SendGrid account already has an event webhook, CommuniQueue will not overwrite it. Use a dedicated subuser or a separate SendGrid account for CommuniQueue.
  • Authenticate your sending domain in SendGrid. With your own provider, SendGrid decides what it accepts.
  • Open and click tracking follow your SendGrid account's settings.

What it costs

You keep paying SendGrid at its own rates for sending. CommuniQueue plans start at $12/month, with a 7-day free trial on every plan, for your first subscription. See pricing

Questions

Do I still need a SendGrid plan?
Yes. SendGrid still delivers your email and bills you for it. CommuniQueue handles the templates.
Does CommuniQueue use SendGrid's Dynamic Templates?
No. CommuniQueue fills in the template itself and sends SendGrid the finished email, so nothing about the template lives in SendGrid.
Can I bring my existing SendGrid templates?
Yes, by hand. Paste each template's HTML into the code view of a new CommuniQueue template, then check the placeholders. SendGrid's Dynamic Templates use Handlebars too, so most placeholders carry over. There is no automatic import from SendGrid.
