Mailgun email templates your whole team can edit
Keep Mailgun for delivery. Your team writes, tests and publishes your app's email templates in CommuniQueue, and CommuniQueue sends each finished email through your Mailgun domain.
What Mailgun does well
- Built for developers, with an HTTP API and SMTP.
- A dedicated IP from its Foundation 100k plan up, and dedicated IP pools on Scale.
- Deliverability services sold alongside sending.
Mailgun's own templates
Mailgun stores templates per domain or per account, edited in its HTML editor or through the API, in a customized Handlebars. Templates have versions with comments and tags, one active at a time. An account holds up to 100 templates with up to 40 versions each. (From Mailgun's documentation, November 2026.)
What CommuniQueue adds on top
Your whole team can edit
Anyone on the workspace except read-only members writes and publishes templates, in a visual editor or in HTML. No API calls and no deploys.
Drafts, test sends and publishing
Each template has a draft that saves as you type. Preview it with sample details, send a test to your own inbox, and publish when it is right.
Versions with notes
Every publish is kept with a note on what changed. To go back, restore an older version as a draft and publish it.
Templates that are not tied to Mailgun
CommuniQueue fills in each template and hands Mailgun the finished email, so your templates stay put if you ever change providers.
One request from your app
Your code sends a template id and the customer's details. It never carries HTML, so changing an email never touches your code.
Connect Mailgun
- In Mailgun, create a sending key for your domain, and copy the HTTP webhook signing key from Settings, then API security.
- In CommuniQueue, open your workspace's Settings, go to the Email sending tab and choose Connect provider. Workspace owners and admins see this.
- Pick Mailgun and enter the From address, the API key, your sending domain and the webhook signing key. Tick Use EU region if your domain is in Mailgun's EU region.
- Save. CommuniQueue registers its webhooks on your domain, keeps any you already have, and lets you send a test email.
Good to know
- Mailgun allows three webhook URLs per event type. If all three are taken, remove one in Mailgun first.
- Verify your sending domain in Mailgun.
- Open and click tracking follow your Mailgun domain's settings.
What it costs
