Email templates for your app

Your app's emails, written by your team.

CommuniQueue is where your team writes, tests and updates the emails your app sends, like receipts, password resets and account alerts. Your app makes one request, and CommuniQueue fills in each customer's details and sends it through the email service you already use.

A template moves through its lifecycle: a draft that saves as you type, a test send to your own inbox, a publish that goes live, and restoring an older version as a new draft.

How it works

Write it once. Every customer gets their own copy.

Think of a form letter that fills itself in and goes out the moment something happens in your app.

  1. 01

    Write the email

Your team writes it in a visual editor and marks where each customer's details go, like {{first_name}} or {{order_total}}.

  2. 02

    Your app asks for it

When something happens, like an order, a sign-up or a password reset, your app sends one request: which email, who gets it, and their details.

  3. 03

CommuniQueue fills it in and sends it

Dana gets "Hi Dana, your order of $42.00 has shipped." It goes out through your own SendGrid, Amazon SES, Postmark or Mailgun account.

For your team

Change an email without filing a ticket.

A developer connects your app once. After that, the people who own the words can change them.

Edit and publish it yourself

Fix a typo or rewrite a receipt in the editor, then publish it. The next email your app sends uses the new version, with no developer or release involved.

See it before customers do

Preview it with sample details, then send a test to your own inbox. Tests stay out of your reports and usage.

Every version kept

Each publish is saved with a note on what changed. To go back, restore an older version as a draft and publish it. Plans keep a set number of versions per template, and you can lock versions you must keep.

Know it arrived

On Pro and Business, see which emails were delivered, bounced or marked as spam, template by template, with CSV export.

Your provider

Keep the email service you already pay for.

CommuniQueue doesn't replace SendGrid, Amazon SES, Postmark or Mailgun. It sits on top of the account you already have and sends through it.

Your rates

You pay your provider's own price for sending. CommuniQueue never marks it up.

Your reputation

Your sending history and deliverability stay in your own provider account.

No lock-in

Templates live in CommuniQueue, so moving to another provider means connecting it. Your templates and your app's requests stay the same.

No provider yet?

You can add managed sending at $1 per 1,000 deliveries and send through ours. Your own provider costs less at volume.

Approximate provider cost at 100,000 emails per month
Sending 100K emails/monthProvider cost
Amazon SES $0.10 per 1,000 pay as you go; new accounts start on Essentials at $0.16$10 to $16
SendGrid Essentials 100,000 emails/month included$34.95
Mailgun Foundation 100,000 emails/month included$75
Postmark Pro their 125K tier, the smallest that covers 100K$126.50

For engineers

Ship email like you ship code.

Your code sends a template id and the data. The wording lives in CommuniQueue, so a copy change is a publish, not a deploy.

  • Drafts, test sends and publishes, with versions you can pin by number
  • Handlebars placeholders, with helpers for dates and text
  • Signed outbound webhooks alongside email, on Pro and Business
  • An OpenAPI document and an agent skill for AI coding tools

The same request before and after every publish: the live version resolves at send time. Pin versionNumber only when you mean it.

Questions

What is CommuniQueue?
CommuniQueue is where your team writes, tests and updates the emails your app sends, like receipts, password resets and account alerts. Your app makes one request, and CommuniQueue fills in each customer's details and sends it through the email service you already use. It works with SendGrid, Amazon SES, Postmark, Mailgun and any SMTP server, and plans start at $12/month.
Does CommuniQueue replace SendGrid or Amazon SES?
No. Your email provider still delivers every email. CommuniQueue holds the templates: your team writes and publishes them here, and when your app asks for one, CommuniQueue fills it in and hands the finished email to your provider.
Do I need my own email provider?
We recommend one. You pay your provider's own rates, and your sending reputation stays in your account. If you don't have one, you can add managed sending at $1 per 1,000 deliveries and CommuniQueue sends through its own account.
Who on my team can edit emails?
Anyone on a workspace except read-only members can edit and publish templates. Basic includes 2 team members per workspace with Owner and Member roles. Pro and Business add Admin, Billing admin and Read-only roles.
Can I switch email providers later?
Yes. Your templates are stored and filled in by CommuniQueue, not by your provider, so switching means connecting the new provider and making it the default. Your templates and your app's requests stay the same. Verify your sending domain with the new provider first, and check which delivery events it reports.
What is a transactional email?
An email your app sends to one person because of something they did or something that happened to their account, like a receipt, a password reset or a shipping update. A newsletter is the opposite: one message to many people at once. Read the guide

Your next email change shouldn't need a developer.
